About the producer
The Kaltenhausen brewery in the province of Salzburg has existed since 1475 and was known as the "Kalte Bräuhaus" when the foundation stone was laid. The term cold comes from the cold air currents that flow out of the Barmsteinen, two rock towers that form the border between Salzburg and Berchtesgaden. Many years ago, the caves of the rocks were also used for storing beer as well as the spring water for brewing. The brewmaster is Günther Seeleitner, who, together with his team, uses the expertise of centuries, but does not forget about modernity in order to create specialities from the best local raw materials. In addition to the three main types, Original, Weisse and Kellerbier, there are some seasonal and special beers that are only served after they have been sufficiently stored.
