Behind the English Breakfast tea lies a mystery of Shakespearean proportions! In 1834, the British Richard Davies founded a tea company in New York. He marketed a blend of black teas that he called “English Breakfast” to convince New Yorkers that this tea blend was very popular in Great Britain... And it worked: the blend became a huge success! But it was not until about 60 years later, in 1892, that “Breakfast Tea” finally became known on British soil.
