Absinthe 60% Vol. Alc.
Tasting notes:
Anise and a hint of wormwood dominate the nose. On the palate, the complexity of the many ingredients condenses into an expressionistic variety of flavors. After a while, the bitter note of the wormwood slowly joins in. In the herb-dominated finish, Steinhorn Fee leaves a pleasant warmth
About the Steiner Bros.:
Gin distilling is probably in the Steiner brothers' blood, as they come from a dynasty of alcohol producers. Their great-great-grandparents, impoverished landed gentry from Silesia, traveled the country as itinerant traders. They settled in the Wagram region of Lower Austria in the 1880s and bought a farm with vineyards and fruit trees, where they became enthusiastic distillers.
After many generations involved in wine and schnapps production, the current generation earns its money with digitalization and mechatronics. However, the Steiner brothers have remained passionately loyal to alcohol production. "When you're working on major digitalization projects, you long for a creative balance. And when the product of this craft is as successful as our Steinhorn Gin in such a short time, it's not additional work stress, but very meaningful," says Johannes Steiner, the older of the brothers and responsible for marketing and sales.
Martin Steiner, responsible for production and quality at Steiner Bros., is also pleased about the successful side project: "We've been working on gin since the beginning of 2017 and set out to produce the best Austrian London Dry Gin. But we never dreamed that we would achieve this goal in less than a year and be confirmed by the renowned trade magazine Falstaff.
