Roesler is a new variety from the Klosterneuburg Viticulture School, approved as a quality variety since 2000. It is fungus-resistant and therefore very suitable for organic viticulture.
Meaning, requirements: Due to its good colour intensity, the variety is also used as a blending partner. The characteristics of the variety include good partial resistance to oidium and peronospora and very good resistance to winter frosts.
Wine: Produces red wine with distinct wild berry aromas. The colour-intensive berries produce extremely dark wines, rich in extract, body and tannin.
CULTIVATION
Heinrich and Marie-Sophie Hartl are one of the leading winemaking couples in the thermal region south of Vienna. For 6 generations, their family has been producing complex red wines from the leading varieties Pinot Noir and St. Laurent, as well as fine whites that are always fruity, complex and well-balanced. A special focus is placed here on the autochthonous Rotgipfler and Zierfandler, both perfect food companions for hearty and spicy dishes. Numerous awards at the SALON Österreich Wein and international competitions (IWC, Decanter World Wine Awards) prove that Heinrich and Marie-Sophie are able to handle the versatile terroir of the thermal region excellently. The family business is a founding member of the "Burgundermacher", who produce some of the best Burgundy wines in Austria.
