Napa cabbage, also known as Peking cabbage, Japanese cabbage, or celery cabbage, is a vegetable plant. Napa cabbage forms a firm, oval to narrowly cylindrical head weighing approximately 1–3 kg. Its leaves are usually yellowish-green and have broad, white, slightly curled leaf ribs.
CULTIVATION - Origin
Just a few kilometers from the Danube lies Rust in the Tullnerfeld. A small place, yet an oasis for vegetable cultivation. Vegetables have been grown here for many generations.
This is also the case on the farm of Michael Bauer.
The wind blows over the leaves of the cabbage vegetables, a specialty of the farm, but many other vegetable varieties also thrive on the fertile and deep soils. Pumpkins in all colors, green and yellow zucchinis, various turnips, leeks, and green beans..... and all conceivable types of cabbage vegetables.
The farm is managed as a "mixed farm". Arable farming, livestock farming, and vegetable cultivation thus positively complement each other.
A natural cycle emerges and forms the basis for nature-oriented agriculture.
We live with and from nature, every day.
Usage
In the kitchen, Napa cabbage is mostly used as a salad. However, there are also increasingly more warm dishes in which it is used. For example, in pasta with small pieces of Napa cabbage.
Storage Recommendation
Salad should always be stored in the refrigerator, ideally at 5° C and high humidity. The vegetable drawer is best suited for this.
