About Manufacturer

LEGO GmbH began manufacturing molds in the basement of their German distribution company in Hohenwestedt in 1958. In 1964, it became LEGO Werkzeugbau GmbH, producing molds for new and established products. The first molds were for LEGO plastic cars at a 1:80 scale. Sustainability played an important role: worn-out mold parts were recycled and reused. In 2002, the production site was sold due to global competition.
