Regional rice that would otherwise be transported thousands of kilometres around the world. The old Ostro variety, which is worthy of protection, is grown in the fields of the Breitseher family from the Weinviertel and later processed into spelt rice. This means that the spelt is dehusked and ground. Cooking swells the grain and gives it similar properties to rice.
The spelt rice can basically be used like normal rice. It is ideal for risottos or casseroles and as a side dish. Use 4 cups of water per cup of rice and cook for about 45 minutes.

Together with grandma Erna and their sons Manuel and Matthias, they run the family farm. Three generations work down-to-earth, with a lot of know how and modern technology. With the help of diverse crop rotations, adapted varieties and forecasting models, excellent quality can be achieved with minimal resource input.
